In the center of this photo you can see the small whiteboard we used as an audio slate for several shots. In order to make it easier to synchronize audio afterwards, we wrote the audio file name on the board (here the file name is “002.wav” or “002” for short) …
….or at least the stand-in for the monster. The actual monster in Dead Men Hiking will be 100% computer generated. For shots requiring the “monster” to interact with the actors, we used this cumbersome foam block to represent the monster’s head.
Content note: this trailer has one shot of mild violence (but don’t worry: nobody gets shot 🙂 ). This short film will be an adventure movie, even though the trailer may suggest horror.
