Back when I was first learning about 3d modeling, my brother and I planned on making a short 3d movie called High Moon that was supposed to take place around a castle in Japan. We never finished the project, but we did produce some good still renders.
In the center of this photo you can see the small whiteboard we used as an audio slate for several shots. In order to make it easier to synchronize audio afterwards, we wrote the audio file name on the board (here the file name is “002.wav” or “002” for short) and filmed this board briefly … Read more
….or at least the stand-in for the monster. The actual monster in Dead Men Hiking will be 100% computer generated. For shots requiring the “monster” to interact with the actors, we used this cumbersome foam block to represent the monster’s head.
Here is our cheapo solution for the only graphically violent scene in Dead Men Hiking: a simple concotion of red paint and a torn white shirt.
This is day 1 of filming. As I got the camera set up, the characters “Scott” and “Gordon” went over their lines in the script, and we “blocked” out the scene.
